I am an ordinary Mom, Daughter, Sister, Wife, and Friend. I enjoy exercising and doing all I can to feel good every day. My goal is to maintain a healthy lifestyle through the support and encouragement of others. I hope to motivate by taking some time to focus on ourselves and the things that keep us healthy and happy.

It's all about Math...

To drop weight you have to eat less calories than you burn. Extra exercise helps the math equation...
But the biggest thing is controlling what we eat. It's also the hardest and it's ongoing. You can't work hard to get to where you want to be and then get there and go back to the old ways. It's a nonstop decision making process. It's all about making good choices MOST of the time. I say Most because we all deserve to splurge and enjoy the deliciousness in life.

One Week Challenge.

Alright. Here we go. The challenge starts on Monday, 10/1. We are going to stick to 2 shakes a day. You can have a morning and afternoon snack if you want but it has to be fruit, veggies, or nuts.

It's just 7 days. If you leave for work, then just make your drink in a shaker cup or just make it the night before and freeze. Prepare the night before if you think you will lose track of time in the morning.

After 1 week, everyone is feeling satisfied after drinking the shakes for 3+ hours.

Jacquie:  Day 8 - I've lost 1 pound and my pants feel a tiny bit less snug. I love the variety of recipe options! I haven't tried replacing two meals in a day, but may try on lighter workout days.
Goal for the next 10 days-  It would be tough, but I could give up ice cream for 10 days (maybe)

Stephanie:  Week #6, Net loss today is 0. I am satisfied with the meal and enjoy the taste.
Goal for the next 10 days- No soda

Sabrina: Day 1 :) Starting over. In 30 days, I probably dropped 3 lbs. I need to make some other changes to see more....  I feel good about my shake as my meal but I am craving carbs for my next meal.
Goal for the next 10 days- I am going to give up pop...starting NOW.  uh oh..... well, maybe I'll start tomorrow... hehe

Kristine: Day 7. No changed yet.
Satisfied with your shake as your meal? Yes. Nothing usually sounds good to eat so this a super easy option!!
Goal for the next 10 days: I don't really have anything. I just eat these and dinner. No sweets ever.  I would say wine.. but not sure I could go 10 days:)

Jenny: Day 52. My pants feel looser and I have lost about 8 pounds.
I really do enjoy the shakes. I switch between fruit based and peanut butter based depending on my mood.
Goal for the next 10 days: Only one cheat day.

Supreme 90 Day 8- Complete! Sore but loving it.

I like this.

Jacquie

1) What do you think of the taste of the shake - honestly.
They taste way better than other shakes I've tried. I don't NEED a straw to drink it fast so I don't taste it. I actually take time to enjoy the flavor.

2) What date did you start the shake? What day are you on? Day 1. 9/5.
3) What is your goal for the first 30 days? To establish good balance and control with my eating habits. And, lose 5 lbs.

4) What is your goal for 60 days? Body confidence. Lose 5 more lbs.

5) What is your goal for 90 days? Lose the last 5 lbs. and finally, after four years, reach my goal weight. Then, maintain.

6) You know that diet alone does not make you lose weight. What type of exercise are you willing to try? 2 days a week... 5 days? I generally try to exercise five days...mostly running and some weight training. I need to mix it up more and be consistent with strength training and work on my core. I rely too much on running alone. I'll try just about anything!

7) Are you full on the shake? I do feel full. By mid morning I'm ready for a light snack and not already starving for lunch :)

3) What is your goal for the first 30 days? My goal is to have more energy and maybe lose 3 pounds.

5) What is your goal for 90 days?  More energy, tone and lose 5 pounds total.

6) You know that diet alone does not make you lose weight. What type of exercise are you willing to try? 2 days a week... 5 days? I plan to walk 3 miles 3 times a week and 1.7 miles 2 times a week.

7) Are you full on the shake? Yes.

Question of the Day

What is your favorite thing about the Shakes?

Definitely variety.  I haven't had the same shake twice in over 3 weeks. Delicious!
It helps tame my hunger in the morning . Used to get really hungry and
snack alot in the morning but has been a lot better and practically
eliminates my morning snacking unless I do a big workout.
I like knowing it is a quick source of vitamins and nutrients, since I don't have time to sit down for a traditional breakfast.
They taste delicious. I feel good about my breakfast!
They are so easy to make. I can get one ready and carry it out the door in two minutes. Also, I am loving it with crunchy peanut butter.

Supreme 90 - Adding to the Challenge

(click here if you want to see where you can order it! It's less than $20!)

I had to post about this workout! Why? Because it's just awesome. I have done some insanity, P90X, Biggest Loser Work Outs, Jillian Micheal Workouts... and this is my favorite by far. All of them are awesome and I would do any of them (as I like to mix it up), BUT this one is just great.

1) Cost - It's so inexpensive and you get 10 discs. You need a workout ball and free weights and you are set.

2) Time - Most of us do not have a lot of extra time these days... from getting to and from work, taking care of a family, going to school, feeding our family, and maybe sneaking in some good reality tv, there just isn't enough time. These workouts are from 20-45 mins. There is a warm up and cool down if you have time for those, but if you skip, the longest is 46 mins. (yes, it's good to stretch, but sometimes you just have to do it in the shower or while getting dressed to get out the door on time)
Here is the times of each DVD:
Chest & Back – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 22:14, Cool Down: 5:57
Ultimate Ball – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 30:33, Cool Down: 5:57
Tabata Inferno – Workout: 37:45, Cool Down – 5:57
Shoulders & Arms – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 32:49, Cool Down: 5:57
Cardio Challenge – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 31:06, Cool Down: 5:57
Legs – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 22:51, Cool Down: 5:57
Total Body – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 23:17, Cool Down: 5:57
Core Dynamics – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 18:06, Cool Down: 5:57
Back & Bi’s – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 46:22, Cool Down: 5:57
Chest, Shoulders & Tri’s – Warm Up: 4:19, Workout: 34:51, Cool Down: 5:57
Supreme Rock Hard Abs (Bonus DVD) – Workout: 6:22

3) They are challenging and work all muscles but they go quick so even if it's not a cardio workout, your heart rate is up because it's fast.

4) Anyone can do these.

5) Variety. With so many discs, you don't get bored.

6) There are some abs in all workouts and the Ultimate Ball workout is a core work out. You feel silly doing some of the moves but you feel it afterwards.

Here's another description from their website.
"Get ripped in just 90 days with Supreme 90 Day! Ordinary workouts lose steam because muscles plateau, so you stop seeing results. Supreme 90 Day employs the power of muscle confusion to accelerate results. Each routine brings on muscle shocking moves. Your body stays challenged and you keep getting stronger! In an independent clinical study, an astounding 88% of participants shed excess body fat and gained muscle sculpted bodies. Get five DVDs for your strength routines to build lean muscles, three DVDs for fat destroying cardio routines and two DVDs for your core and ab blasting workouts. You also get "SUPREME NUTRITION" by New York Times best-selling author, Tosca Reno. Eat more, boost your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burning machine with Supreme 90 Day!"

Combining these with our shakes is going to give us the protein we need to build some muscles!

I am training for a 10K with Sabrina now, but I am thinking that I know Jodi was going to give this a shot so I think I may just join her in the journey.  Anyone else in?

Favorites

In our house, we are really enjoying the shakes. Some days, when time gets away from us, and we just want to eat quick, we find ourselves just making another shake... because we know they are healthy and quick, we just drink it up and move on with our day.

These are our current favorites!

Chocolate Covered Cherries: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 10 frozen dark sweet cherries, 1 Tbsp. cocoa powder, & 5 ice cubes. Blend well in blender.

Strawberry Banana: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 2/3 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 Frozen Banana & 4 ice cubes. Blend well in blender.

Butterfinger: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 2 Tbsp. sugar free butterscotch pudding mix, 1 Tbsp. reduced-fat peanut butter & 5 ice cubes. Blend well in blender. (I really liked this with crunchy peanut butter!)

Cookies and Cream: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 2 Tbsp. Cookies and Cream pudding mix & 5 ice cubes. Blend well in blender. (I haven't found the sugar free kind yet)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 1 Tbsp. reduced fat peanut butter, 1 Tbsp. cocoa powder, & 6 ice cubes. Blend well in blender.

Berry Mania: 8 oz. Almond milk, 2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix, 3/4 cup of any and all fresh berries you have (can throw banana in there too), & 6 ice cubes. Blend well in blender.

Why Oh Why?

I keep thinking about trying to explain why I have gotten involved with these shakes and why I want to tell others.

1) I know in this world being 100% healthy all the time is impossible, so finding something to eat that is good for you and healthy is something I can't pass up. Food... eating... it's enjoyable and makes me happy. If something healthy can be exciting to eat. I am in.

2) Drinking the shakes and sharing with others makes me happy and motivated.

3) It's important to have protein in the morning and as a key part of meals. This does the trick.

4) As a Mom, getting yourself something to eat and out the door is not an easy task. Making food for many and focusing on yourself doesn't come easy. I whip up a shake in 3 minutes and can be out the door. It's filling and I am satisfied and happy. Hungry = crabby.

5) The shake can and has provided a sense of motivation to make healthier choices and is helping me drop the ten pounds that are the hardest to shake.

Keep on Keeping on.

Kristy

1) What do you think of the taste of the shake - honestly. I truly love the taste of these shakes.  With so many flavor options I can make a shake for whatever mood I'm in or have taste for.
2) What date did you start the shake? April 28th What day are you on? Starting my 2nd 90 day challenge and I am on day 15
3) What is your goal for the first 30 days? To workout at least 6 days a week and start eating healthier
4) What is your goal for 60 days? Continue with the program and continue to on changing my lifestyle
5) What is your goal for 90 days?To lose as much weight as I could before my wedding and win the biggest loser at school ( I lost 38 lbs and won the biggest loser with a total weight loss of 14%)
6) You know that diet alone does not make you lose weight. What type of exercise are you willing to try? I have honestly always enjoyed some kind of workout.  For my 2nd 90 day challenge my goal is to work out 6 days a week.  2 days a week... 5 days?
7) Are you full on the shake? The first week I wasn't but after I got in a good 7 days the shakes filled me up.  At times I do have to eat a healthy snack high in protein or fiber.
8) You already completed one 90 day challenge. What kit did you use and What were your results? I started with the shape kit but quickly moved up to the transformation kit because of having three people sign up under me and finally made it to the fit kit.  At the end of my first 90 day challenge I was down 38 lbs and 15 days into my 2nd 90 day challenge I am down 7 lbs.  What did you find to be the hardest part? The first week when my stomach wasn't used to less food and the lack of solid foods (this is easily solved by adding granola or graham cracker to your shake or having a granola bar with your shake)

Body by Vi

Some basic shake info!

Good information on which kit is good for you.

Jason

Jason is a friend from the gym I previously went to. In fact, he was my trainer. I thought I would tell him about the shakes and little did I know, he was already enjoying them himself. He was nice enough to answer some questions for me to share.

1)   What do you think of the taste of the shake - honestly.
A: I love it!!  It is nutritious and easy to take with me in the morning.  I also like the flavor and different packets they give you with flavors.
2)   What date did you start the shake? What day are you on?
A: 3/1/12.  I am done with 90 day plan now just maintaining
3)   What iwasyour goal for the first 30 days?
A: 5-10 lbs
4)   What was your goal for 60 days?
A: 10-15 lbs
5)   What was your goal for 90 days?
A: 20 total lbs
6)   You know that diet alone does not make you lose weight. What type of exercise are you willing to try? 2 days a week... 5 days?
A: I would workout 5-6 times a week.  I would teach class and do my own routine as well.  Did lots of spin, kickboxing, and cross fit workout routines.
7)   Are you full on the shake?
A: Yes.  Very satisfied and don’t eat till lunch time.  Use it after workout as well.
8)   You already completed one 90 day challenge. What kit did you use and What were your results? What did you find to be the hardest part?
A: I used the one that cost 99.00.  I believe it was called fit package.  It came with 2 packages.  I have now switched to maintain package that is 49.00.  It is great product.  Trimmed down and feel great. Hardest part was making sure to have shake in beginning everyday.  I would be in such a rush but, I used ziplock bags and had them on the go.

Questions of Monday

Sabrina
1) What day are you on? I'm think I'm on day 11. How many times per day are you drinking the shake? I'm drinking it once a day. I drank it twice a day once.
2) Are you still enjoying your shake? I'm definitely enjoying it, I look forward to it in the morning. What is your favorite so far? I have the chocolate one every day - shake mix, a little bit of cocoa, skim milk, and ice.  Yumm!  I did put strawberries in it once too, that was good.  I am a creature of habit so I feel like it's working for me so why change!  Plus, I'm afraid I'll make one I don't really like and then waste it!
3) Have you experienced any weight loss - if that is part of your goals? It's funny - I was starting to get mad because I didn't see ANY weight loss for the first week.  Then in the past few days, I've gone down 3-4 lbs. Not sure what that's about but I'll take it!
4) Do you find yourself eating healthier because of the shake? Not yet. I need to figure out the snacking thing. Right now, I am just waiting until lunch to eat again and by that time I'm practically starving and HANGRY! (Hungry+Angry).
5) Do you feel like you are depriving yourself? Yes and no. I'm happy with it but need to get a balance throughout the day.
6) What are your goals for the week? Keep up with the shake for breakfast, run 2-3 days a week and get some snacks in this house!

Jenny
1) What day are you on? I'm on day 22. How many times per day are you drinking the shake? Once, but I have had it twice a couple days... because I really enjoy it.
2) Are you still enjoying your shake? I am! I look forward to it. What is your favorite so far? I love the fruit mix in the morning with a variety of berries and water but I also have tried almond milk which was good and made the Butterfinger shake. Yum!
3) Have you experienced any weight loss - if that is part of your goals? I have lost about 4 pounds.
4) Do you find yourself eating healthier because of the shake? I do. I am sticking with fruit and nut snacks, chicken salads for lunch and a decent dinner. I do still enjoy my ice cream, but just a very little amount.
5) Do you feel like you are depriving yourself? I don't. I miss having eggs for breakfast so I have had them for dinner sometimes!
6) What are your goals for the week? I want to get in 5 workouts! (1 down!)

Keeping it Real Over the Weekend.

Weekend are supposed to be a blast!

Plan Ahead - I think this is mainly do-able. I like the thought of having two shakes a day if you know you are going to have a big dinner.
Don't Skip Breakfast -
Make a new shake and make it more fun. I am going to try the Butterfinger shake this weekend and got some Almond milk to try.
Keep a Food Diary
Treat Yourself - Just a Little :
Maybe some ice cream?
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Be Careful With Menus
Be Careful at the Mall
Get Physical Activity :
Sabrina, Saturday run is in our future.

A few of us picked some weekend goals. Let's see if they help.
Jodi-I will be doing home repair and improvement projects.  My goal is to eat right and eat when I am hungry.  When you're in the middle of a project it's sometimes easier to grab fast food or snacks.  Not good choices and definitely not helping you keep your energy up!
Sabrina - My goal for the weekend will be to have no snacks after 8 pm. :)
Jenny - If I am having a drink or maybe two, no pigging out at the same time.

Recipe Reviews

Recipes we have tried so far.

Skim Milk, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana, some ice - AMAZING!

Fat free milk, strawberry pack. Very yummy.

PBNJ, not my favorite, but it was OK.

Almond milk and banana, the bomb!

Fuzzy navel Review #1- tastes just like it suggests, but without liquor. Boo. I liked it very much.
Review #2 - Yum! It felt like I was drinking a combination of a cupcake and a fruity drink with an umbrella in it

Peach Dream = okay. It is super vanilla-y. I can almost not taste the peach at all. It is still easy to drink, and my kids loved it

Skim Milk, teaspoon cocoa, teaspoon peanut butter - Like a reese's treat. So darn good!

Powdered Peanut Butter?

Powdered Peanut Butter? What The Heck? PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter (85% Less Fat and Calories) 2 Pack ONLY $13.95 | Free Printable Coupons, coupon blog, DIY, Learn How to Coupon, and Make Ahead Meals | Fabulessly Frugal

Who is going to try this in their shakes??!!

Lindy - The Start

I am a 32 year old wife & mother of two. I work full time, and spend most of my spare time camping, planning the next event, teaching our church's youth, raising kids and on the go. I have dropped to the bottom of my priority list, and would like to find a way to focus on my health while maintaining my busy life.

1) What do you think of the taste of the shake - honestly.  Today I tried the Fuzzy Navel recipe - almond milk, orange juice, frozen peaches, shake mix and ice. It is really good. My kids each tried it and loved it. Honestly, this is going to sound like a cheesy sales pitch line, but I keep feeling like I am cheating somehow. I was prepared to feel like I was deprived a bit by just having a shake for breakfast. Instead it feels like I am having a cupcake. It is hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that this is good for me!
2) What date did you start the shake? What day are you on? 8/7. Day one, baby!
3) What is your goal for the first 30 days? I haven't set official goals yet. I would be thrilled to lose 5 lb per month.
4) What is your goal for 60 days? 10 lb
5) What is your goal for 90 days? 15 lb
6) You know that diet alone does not make you lose weight. What type of exercise are you willing to try? 2 days a week... 5 days?  I am interested in being more active, not necessarily one type of exercise. We just bought bikes, and I got a trailgator for towing my 5 year old's bike. I would love for our family to go out on family bike rides and be active together.
7) Are you full on the shake? I am only half way through my first shake right now. I'll have to report back later in the day.
